Woven Wraps 101
Why choose a woven wrap? One word: versatility. A woven wrap is quite possibly the best investment in baby gear you will have the option of making.
Versatility in Carrying Use. The supportive, non-stretchy fabrics used by companies such as Storchenwiege and EllaRoo mean you will get years of carrying use out of one single wrap. These baby slings will work just as well with your preschooler as they do with your newborn - no sagging, no stretching.
Versatility in Carrying Positions. Whether woven by hand or machine, these wraps are sturdy enough for secure and stable carries on the wearer’s front, back, or hip. Baby can be worn high enough to peek over your shoulder, or cradled low into a position for feeding - a woven wrap can be securely tied in virtually any position.
Versatility in Wearer Preference. Long wraps for Dad … short wraps for quick hip carries … medium wraps for everyday use … muted or bright … solid or busy … fringed ends or blunt … organic, non-toxic … there is a perfect woven wrap for every taste and need.
Versatility in Life in General! Woven wraps are just handy to have around. They double as extra blankets in the car, or napkins when eating on the go. They make impromptu changing mats, and can be used to create makeshift high chairs. You’ll find more uses for your wrap than just babywearing, and you’ll come to appreciate how daily use really softens up your wrap. It’s hard to hurt a woven wrap ~ they just get better and softer with use!
If you could only purchase one baby sling, let it be a woven wrap. Invest the little bit of time it takes to get familiar with the fabric, and you’ll be set from baby’s first day home until she heads off to kindergarten.
